Video presented by 245 snowboard shop. Please direct any questions regarding the D&D series and the video production to 245. Great job, can't wait to see what ya'll can do now that the Park construction is well along.
WWWEEEEEEEEAk, i know there is better riders at kb than that, how come u never film them? and where are the skiers? I know for a fact snowflake/245 has a team of skiers. Way to be skier racist.
245 viddy, KB did not produce any of it. I would like to see what the skies bring to the table as well, enough with the racist tag while refering to the skier vs. snowboarder debate, it's ridiculous and borderline offensive.
You should have heard it before I sent it back to have soe lyrics smudged out. I hope the next one is a bit more of a "grown up" production so I can host it on the KB website also. I see a lot of kids smoking, mostly boarders, but I am sure tht is just a skewed perception because a majority of the 14-17 year old crows rides. It is too bad they are doing themselves harm and I really hate riding a lift on a crisp winter's night though a cloud of toxic smoke. I can't be too judgemetnal, nicotine is a hard habit to break, I just quit chewing three months ago and it is VERY difficult to quit, best bet...don't start. No more sermons from me today. Aloha.
I didn't go to the comp but heard details from a few riders--one of them took second--but if a shop is going to host/sponsor an event, why not bring some product?
The shop host the event and pays for it and provides workers for registration and on hill support. The shops time, effort and real cash. Just a thought, do they do all this for the oppurtunity to give you product, I am thinking that perhaps they hope the competitors will be grateful and consider them when they are in the market for some new gear. If you were asking why they have no product to sell on site, it is because they can't. If they could I imagine they would take advantage of that. A manufacturor sponsored events most times a bunch of cheapo schwag is handed out, they do this in support of the local shops that sell the brand, to put brand "x" on the map and drive retail sales to spur more wholesale orders. Shops can't afford to give away much product, the margins just don't exist. Unless your one of a select few you compete for for the fun and personal reward, if you are in it for prizes, well, thats just lame.
Initial impression from a non park/trick guy: Weak
1.I know there are better riders @ KB. Also seemed like me that they showed people doing the same/ similar tricks over and over and over but that could just be me.
2. What's with no helmets? Park and Comp's should be MANDATORY helmets. Wait till you bust your skull on that metal rail!!
3. Smoking = weak, ACM covered this.
4. Sound track- I don't get it!! Event sponsor was 103.3 and the soundtrack is Ghetto Fab Boyz?
Now before you go bagging on me my point is that this vid does not represent the event or KB and the sponsors very well. I'm sure there is WAY better footage from the comp and a better way to present this. I'm not knocking anyone as it's better than I could do- but kind of bush league.
ACM-First of all I'm not in it for the prizes. Any reward of any kind is a bonus. More on this as we go.
Secondly, shouldn't KB handle registration and 'on hill support'--maybe the KB park crew? Comps at the Valley, PeeknPeak, Holimont had registration at guest services and at the Valley, the park crew took care of the 'on hill support'.
Finally, shops have enough product sitting around they can't dump (in the store) to use for prizes if they want. Pants, goggles, hoodies...
So if there are going to be prizes call it a comp, if not then just call it a JAM. It's pretty easy folks.
Well said, and I respect your opinion, but respectfully disagree. Events from World Cup ski races and the x games to local bar leagues and park events are run by the event organizor in most casses, with an agreement between the event org. and the host as to the level of support the host will be responsible for. 245/103.3/Riders and Gliders have worked together for years an produced events every thursday from the radar run and snow football to the more recent D&D series. For the most part these events are run by the afore mentioned sponsors with KB providing the "raw materials". Some events like the Molson Series are completely run by KB pesonal and others, like NAR are shared, with NAR doing the seasonal and nightly scoring, registration, paying for and setting up post race parties(sometimes here, sometimes down the road)and other admin work while KB handles the slope, the course and the timing, thats it. If the ski area is the primery organizor of an event, then they run it start to finish. When an outside group is running an event they contract services with the ski area either with direct payment or with an understanding that the event will bring in competitors and spectators who will drop some coin. Just my two cents here... Unless you compete to put food on the table it is about the competition itself, the personal challenges and acomplishments and the people you compete againt, not prizes, you want prizes go play I Got It at the fair. Again, this is just my opinion and it does reflect on anyone else here at KB. Your opinion is of course just as valid as mine, I just disagree. My position has been stated and it is not my place to be involved in these blog debates, so... I'm out.
Consider this, and the comparison may be unfair I understand-
In anything below world cup ski racing there is typically no "prize" be that money, goods, equipment or otherwise. You pay your entry fee to race and maybe get some pizza and beer afterward. (Which is OK by me)
At the local masters level (NAR, Molson, NY Masters) there are VERY limited prizes sometimes. These are typically solicited by the organization from manufacturers and local shops etc as donations. (I'm talking about one pair of ski poles for 40 competitors)
Please don't misinterpret what I am saying- as a recipient of said poles I am EXTREMELY grateful and appreciative. ACM hit it on the head and has a ton of front line experience with this. Some organizers do a better job at soliciting and obtaining prizes- be this skiing, biking, running or whatever sport but this is unbelievably time consuming and much harder than you would think.
Unbelievably bad production, weak riding, wanna be wangster kooks. KB should disassociate themselves from what the good folks at Snowflake have allowed 245 to become. It's really sad especially since there are some real fine shops around that I'm sure if approaced, would do both KB and it's riding community much better. Hasta Luego 245
"dude the riding cant be that good when ur given 2 runs only...jams are where its at"
LOL--I stopped by the park today as a spectator to see what it was all about. Seems to me there are lots of wanna be's hanging around talking, smoking and being "cool" and nobody doing anything worth while on any of the features..
All day to "jam" on them and nobody "jamming", I don't get it????
Maybe it was lunch time or too cold today for all the mad skillz to be shown, or maybe the effort KB put forth to make what appears to be a pretty nicely setup park is all for nothing?
I did see several younger kids in the coal chute "beginner" park seemingly having fun sliding on the features. No smoking or wannabe groupie packs just sitting around here, just kids having fun!
ya i just didnt like how they only really were hittin that box i ride the park every wednesday and i hate that box it seems like every time i go it doesnt slide good and i even caught my edge on it which has never happened b4... anyway point is set up a bigger rail possibly that red flat that was at the beginning of the park for a while i like that one...
